My first encounter with self-myofascial release and foam rollers dates back to my early days as a personal trainer in the early 2000s, a time when fascia was still a relatively unknown concept. Despite the discomfort, I found myself drawn to the soothing sensation of rolling around on them. Alongside yoga, self-myofascial release (SMFR) began to unlock the tightness in my body, leading to a newfound sense of flexibility and ease.

Fast forward a decade, and my journey with SMFR took an exciting turn when I attended a workshop that introduced me to the use of therapy balls for SMFR. This experience revealed my body’s blindspots, areas that I previously overlooked in my body that needed attention. The comfort and precision provided by the therapy balls led me to abandon my foam roller, favoring the targeted treatment they offered.

A few years later, I had the privilege of welcoming Jill Miller to train my professional team on the use of therapy balls. This experience not only expanded my knowledge but also deepened my appreciation for the growing body of scientific research on fascia. This research provided a wealth of context, shedding light on the true benefits of SMFR and therapy balls.

In the years that followed, I’ve been using therapy balls for my own mobility and recovery. The transformation I’ve experienced, coupled with the positive feedback from my students in classes and workshops, has been nothing short of remarkable. They’ve reported feeling better, with more expansive breaths and less (or even no) pain in previously troublesome areas.

The changes I’ve witnessed are the reason I’m so passionate about sharing this work: improved flexbility and range of motion, reduced muscle soreness and tension, enhanced circulation, pain relief, stress reduction, and and improved posture. Most importantly, this practice empowers me to be active in my own self-care and recovery, extending beyond physical health to encompass mental and emotional well-being.

This module introduces the science of how and why self-massage works and offers the latest on fascial research, pain science and therapy ball applications for multiple populations.

Day 2 Sequencing & Innovation

In this module we learn to provide a wide variety of self-care solutions for every client and condition utilizing all four different sizes of Roll Model therapy balls. You will refine your teaching skills to effortlessly craft innovative moves and sequences for any individual or community.
